What you can learn:
-
Singing Lessons
Everyone can sing. There is a myth that you need to be super-talented and have a naturally wonderful voice to be able to sing. My philosophy is that anyone can be a singer, given the right education and training.
Maybe you only sing in the privacy of the shower or the car, maybe you just need an injection of confidence to get up and perform a song at the karaoke, or maybe you are already a keen singer who wants to turn your hobby into something more.
-
Piano Lessons
Are you looking for a new approach to learning the piano? Did you have lessons as a child and feel like you have unfinished business with this daunting instrument? Or are you wanting to find a new challenge and learn how to entertain your friends and family with songs that you’ve always wanted to play?
My method of piano tuition will give you all the skills necessary to be able to tackle whatever musical challenges you wish to undertake. From learning how to read sheet music to jazz improvisation, I guarantee that you will get what you are looking for.
-
Saxophone Lessons
Fancy learning a bit of a Charlie Parker or want to play the same iconic tunes as John Coltrane? When it comes to the sax, the sky’s the limit.
My approach to teaching the saxophone blends many different genres; from blues and jazz to folk and rock, there’s something here for any aspiring horn player.
-
Music Theory
Music is a language, one that is beautiful yet also fiendishly difficult to learn. One of the most frustrating things in the world is being a keen musician who feels limited by their note-reading. If you’ve ever looked at a piece of sheet music and found yourself overwhelmed by the swirling mass of hieroglyphic markings in front of you, I can help.
I offer a fun and accessible approach to learning Music Theory, which will help anybody to become fluent in this daunting language. Be it to supplement your instrumental progress, to pass your Grade 5 Theory Exam, or simply to have the skills and confidence to be able to tackle that piece you’ve always dreamed of playing, there’s something here for you.
About Ben.
Ben started his musical life at the age of 11, as a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. His involvement with choral singing instilled a love of singing and ensemble music, leading him to pursue a choral scholarship at Cambridge University, where he became a member of the world famous King’s College Choir under the late Sir Stephen Cleobury.
During his time with King’s Ben toured the globe, performing at prestigious venues such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts, Washington National Cathedral and London’s Royal Albert Hall. He also took part in many critically acclaimed CD recordings, including Mozart: Requiem Realisations and After Hours, a close-harmony album that reached No.1 on the Classical iTunes Chart.
After leaving university Ben has thrown himself into as many different projects as possible. He has performed as a saxophonist at multiple internationally renowned festivals, such as Glastonbury Festival with J.S & The Lockerbillies and Château Perché Festival with Noise of Art’s DJ Ben Osbourne. He has also composed original scores for plays that have toured the country, including contemporary retellings of Harold Brighouse’s Hobson’s Choice and Hans Christian Andersons’s The Snow Queen. He has also dabbled in voiceover work, reading/recording (and composing music for) guided meditation scripts and poetry.
He has his own function band, The Plus Ones, who play anything from small private functions to large wedding receptions; a jazz group, The Ben Goble Trio, as well as many different solo endeavours for any occasion.
